Abstract: Piperidines are very important compounds because of their presence in numerous alkaloids, pharmaceuticals, agrochemical and as synthetic intermediates. Biologically active alkaloids of the substituted piperidine ring system have been targeted for their total or partial synthesis. Synthetic efforts were also made fro modifications of pethidine and morphine like compounds, which led to the synthesis of new opiate having agonist as well as antagonistic......

Abstract: Natural products, particularly those from plants, have been used as vital tool to help mankind in sustaining health care delivery systems. Thus, this research aimed to determine the efficacy of Annonasenegalensis against some bacteria associated with wound infection. Leaf preparation of A. senegalensis is used as ethnomedicine for the treatment of wound and organisms associated with wound.Leaf extract of A. senegalensis was obtained by macerating the powdered leaf of 57.89g into 440ml of methanol which yielded 8.5g(14.68%).The phytochemical constituents of the methanol leaf extract of A. senegalensis were determined using standard qualitative procedure. The antibacterial activity was performed using agar well diffusion method. The phytochemical........

Abstract: X-rays are electromagnetic waves that can traverse the human body due to their high energy levels (≥1.24 keV) and ultra-short wavelengths (≤10-10m). Acute exposures have harmful health effects, affecting hematopoietic systems amongst others. X-ray unit workers experience these effects despite usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). This study spanned May 2018 to February 2019, and was aimed at determining the effects of exposures to low-dose x-rays on basic morphological characteristics of blood cells among radiographers in Port Harcourt. It was delimited to a target population of active radiographers who work for ≥ 6-hours daily; ≥ 5-days weekly...........

Abstract: The implication of hypercholesterolemia in metabolic maladies has informed research on a wide spectrum of diet-based interventions in lowering serum cholesterol levels. This work investigated the effect of ethanol extract Gnetum africanum leaves on the lipid profile of Wister rats. A total of 12 rats divided into two groups of 6 rats each were employed in the investigation. The first group (control) were fed rat chow while the second group (test) were fed a composite feed containing rat chow and 10% extract of G. africanum leaves. The lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, HDL) of the rats was assayed after 18 days of feeding. The result showed..........

Abstract: TheIn-utero exposure to carbamazepine has been shown to perturb maternal digestion as well as cell and tissue metabolic processes when used during pregnancy. Literature has shown thatit perturb the endogenous bioelectrical mechanisms and voltage gradients that guides maternal metabolic pathways of cells and tissues. Further, it also disturbs the fetal growth and development as it interferes with fetal patterning programs, cell division, cell positioning, and cell differentiation as it readily crosses the maternal placental barrier. Though, literature........

Abstract: Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and there are about 300 known amino acids if not more, that has been described and categorized, but only about 20 amino acids are consistently involved in biological build up.Traditional technique of preserving fish (by smoking) was investigated to understand its effect on the nutritional quality of tilapia and present human dietary needs. This study is aimed at evaluating the amino acid content of tilapia before and after drying (smoking). For this study tilapias were obtained from three major sources, two domesticated sources (ponds) and a wild source (river). The method used was that described by Benitez. Results from this study..........

Abstract: Background and objective: The use of drugs does not constitute an evil. Drug can be used both positively and negatively and if not properly used, drugs can have serious consequences. This descriptive survey was conducted to determine the extent of Hallucinogen drug abuse among secondary school students in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Materials and Method: this was a cross-sectional study that used web based questioners given in 2013. Total of 674 students were used for the study and 672 representing about 98.8% were used for data analysis. Results: The results of the study showed that secondary school students do not abuse hallucinogen drugs as their cluster mean is 1.27; that the extent of hallucinogen drug abuse was dependent on gender and age as P-value =.296..........
