| Title | : | Bioprospective Potentiality of Essential Oil of Ocimum gratissimum Linn.-An Innovative Approach for Fruit Preservation |
| Country | : | India |
| Authors | : | Pranab Giri |
Abstract: Of late, it becomes a great problem to the cultivators for post harvest preservation of fruits because of their proneness to be attacked by different pathogens causing rot or other necrotic lesions on fruit surface reducing their luster and market value as well. The use of synthetic compound for post harvest preservation of fruits definitely has some drawbacks because of their permeability through rind which may cause severe health hazards upon consumption. In this regard, natural volatile compounds from plant resources in particular may have immense potentiality to act as a substitute for synthetic compounds which will be safer and eco friendly. In the present investigation some pathogenic isolates from some common fruit surfaces were tested to grow in presence of essential oil extracted from six species of Ocimum growing in our state.......

Abstract: Background: Dexamethasone is an analgesic and anti-emetic agent, that decreases analgesic consumption, yet improve post-operative analgesia. Objectives: To assess the effect of preemptive Dexamethasone on postoperative analgesia as primary objective. To assess the effect of preemptive Dexamethasone on occurrence of PONV and to study any immediate side effects of Dexamethasone if any as secondary objectives. Study Design: This is a randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled trial conducted over 120 patients undergoing total abdominal hysterectomy under subarachnoid block.......

| Title | : | Evaluation of serum iron and ferritin in different treatment regimens for chronic hepatitis C virus |
| Country | : | Egypt |
| Authors | : | Fagr B. Bazeed || Elsherbeny H. Elsayed || Amani A. Abd El-Aziz |
Abstract: This work aims to develop a biochemical study on the effect of both interferon containing treatment regimens and interferon free regimens on serum iron and serum ferritin in patients with chronic hepatitis C and to evaluate the role of iron in the severity and course of disease. Blood samples from one hundred fifty patients aged from 25 to 57 years old were withdrawn; of them 30 blood samples were positive for HCV antibodies and negative for HCV RNA (control group I) and 120 blood samples were positive for HCV antibodies and positive for HCV RNA (diseased group II) which is subdivided into four groups according to the received treatment;........

Abstract: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) affects more than 180 million people worldwide and it is the leading cause of chronic liver disease .The aim of this study is to detect liver enzymes and bilirubin levels before and after different anti viral therapies in Egyptian chronic hepatitis C infected patients. One hundred and fifty patients with chronic HCV infection who have anti HCV antibodies detected by ELISA were selected to undergo Real-Time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) ; of them 30 blood samples were positive for HCV antibodies and negative for HCV RNA (control group I) and 120 blood samples were positive for HCV antibodies and positive for HCV RNA (diseased group II) which is subdivided into four groups according to the received treatment; interferon and ribavirin (group IIa), interferon, sofosbuvir and ribavirin (group IIb), sofosbuvir and ribavirin (group IIc) and herbal therapy (group IId).........
