Abstract: The aim of this study is to identify and document medicinal plants traditionally used in the treatment of anxiety and depression in two localities of Agboville. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 10 traditional practitioners in M'bérié and Arraguié. The results of this survey indicated that 04 species divided into 04 genera and 04 families are used in the treatment of anxiety and depression. The most represented families are Anacardiaceae, Asteraceae and Cucurbitaceae. Among the species cited, Vernonia amygdalina Delile (Asteraceae), Spondias mombin Linn (Anacardiaceae) and Momordica charantia L (Cucurbitaceae) were most recommended in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Almost all the plant species listed have a Consensus Index close to 1. These results constitute a database for further studies aimed at evaluating the biological and chemical potentialities of these plants.
