Abstract: Nurses play prominent role in the healthcare system through advanced care of patients with chronic illness. This study examined the impact of demographic variables on nurses participation in integrated care of chronically ill patients. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 240 nurses working in secondary and tertiary health institutions in Anambra State of Nigeria. Two research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The instrument used for data collection was Questionnaire on Nursing Interventions in Integrated Management of Chronically ill Patients. Standard descriptive statistics was used to summarize the variables. Percentages were used to answer the research questions, while chi-square, Mann- Whitney-U and Wilcoxon tests were used in testing the null hypotheses at 0.01 level of significance.............

Abstract: This study was aimed to develop solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) as well as nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) and evaluate their potential as carrier systems for topical delivery of benzocaine to improve the drug entrapment efficiency and sustained release. SLNs and NLCs were prepared by high shear homogenization followed by ultrasonication method, using different types of solid lipids such as glyceryl monostearate, stearic acid and Compritol 888 ATO. Isopropyl myristate, as a liquid lipid in formulation of NLCs was used in different ratios to study the influence of liquid lipid content on the particle size, entrapment efficiency and zeta potential of the formulated benzocaine loaded lipid nanoparticles. The results indicated that entrapment efficiency and particle size depend on the concentration and the lipid mixture employed. The selected NLCs (NLC6) was further incorporated in 5% carboxymethyl............

Abstract: Objective: The present study was conducted to analyze the current prescription pattern and cost analysis of antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients in a tertiary care hospital. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in tertiary care hospital, Kadapa, A.P., and India for six months and utilized 600 prescriptions for the analysis. The data analyzed from the prescription included patients demographics, stage of hypertension according to JNC VII guidelines, type of drug therapy, class of anti-hypertensive, and cost effectiveness of therapy. Drug Percentage cost variation calculated, using the Minimum and Maximum cost of individual drug. The average maximum and minimum costs were calculated and compared with average range of blood pressure. Statistical analysis was performed by using unpaired t-test..........
