Abstract: As the waves of the financial crisis began to pound the centers of world finance, there have been some belated recognition of the danger posed by short term capital flows. Countries afflicted by the financial crisis have been forced to take their own measures to protect their economy. This paper proposes the use of Indigenous Textile (Aso-oke) as one of the instruments by which the problem of national economic meltdown in Nigeria can be solved by providing self reliance and job opportunities to other numerous people. The paper examines the history of Indigenous textile (Aso-oke), and reveals the raw materials for producing it. The paper also examines the prospect of traditional cloth production with its accompanying benefit of assuaging the delectating consequences of national economic meltdown. The paper makes recommendations on how such prospects can be utilized for national development.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to select the appropriate model of cotton fiber properties and yarn strength using spatial REML method. The fiber quality properties and yarn strength data of 2019 cotton crop season was collected from cotton technical support office, maintenance cotton varieties section, Cotton Research Institute (CRI), Egypt. These data includes six cotton varieties namely; Giza 45, Giza 86, Giza 90, Giza 92, Giza 94 and Giza 95. The monitored cotton fiber quality properties were upper half mean, uniformity index, strength, elongation, micronaire, maturity ratio, reflectance percentage and yellowness degree. Abstract: Fiber-reinforced polymer composites have large applications in different important sectors like aerospace engineering biomedical engineering, constructions because of their light-weight and high strength. Tensile and flexural properties are the two ultimate factors for measuring the strength of materials. The role of fiber content, length, and their orientations on these two properties are explored in this study. Different chemical modifications to improve the surface property of fiber/matrix and hence improve the tensile and flexural properties of polymer composites are also reviewed in this paper.
