Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic multisystem disease with an unknown etiology affecting about 1% of the world's population. Anemia is a frequently occurring extra articular manifestation of RA, being mostly of the normochromic & normocytic type. The aim of our study to assess and affirm whether the increased oxidative stress in inflamed joints is reflected by lipid-peroxidation? Also to check the alteration in levels of non –enzymatic antioxidant (vitamin E & vitamin C) in RA with Anemia. 100 patients with RA and 100 healthy individual were included in this study. A level of malonaldehyde (MDA), a lipid –peroxidation marker was measured by Utley's method. Non enzymatic antioxidant vitamin E and vitamin C was assayed in plasma/ serum by Shami Hashim & Carl A Burtis method. The levels of MDA were significantly increased (P<0.001) in RA as compared to control. Whereas levels of non-enzymatic antioxidant (Vitamin E & Vitamin C) were decreased in patients as compared to control. It is statistically significant (P<0.001). There was a raised oxidative stress and decreased non-enzymatic antioxidant (Vitamin E & Vitamin C) in anemic rheumatoid arthritis patients. These changes are probably due to efforts for reducing lipid-peroxidation and hence to lower tissue damage.

Abstract: A normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and benzoic acid (BA). The compounds are separated on a normal phase column Eurospher-100, c18.4.6mmID. The mobile phase is methanol - water (65 + 35, v/v). Solutions are injected into the chromatographic system under isocratic conditions at a constant flow rate of 1 mL /min with UV detection at 240 nm. Analysis of stability samples in deferent solvents showed formation of BPO from BA when it dissolved in ether or methanol and very low degradation of BPO to BA when it dissolved in ether compare with when it dissolved in methanol.

Abstract: Transition metal chelates of the type M [NQO] 2 where M = Mn, Fe, Co,Ni, Cu: NQO = 1, 2 napthoquinone 1-oxime have been synthesized. X-ray studies have been carried out for Mn and Cu chelate of 1, 2 napthoquinone 1-oxime and the chelate of manganese belongs to Triclinic, a = 6.3580, b = 18.9591 c = 7.5697 A0, α = 100.429, β = 74.757, γ = 66.998, and copper chelate belongs to triclinic, a = 7.5528, b = 5.8689 c = 13.6719 A0, α = 63.541, β = 92.028, γ = 103.795. Their particle sizes are in the range of 15-42 nm. All chelates have been characterized by modern methods such as elemental analysis, FTIR and Electronic spectra.Scanning electron microscopy of chelates was carried out. The ligand and the metal chelates have been screened for antimicrobial activity on gram positive, gram negative bacteria and fungi. The results are compared with cisplatin as standard chemotherapy agent.Mechanism of hydrolysis of metalchelates is discussed.

Abstract: The freshwater ornamental fishes in the Lower Manair Dam were studied from August-2012 toJuly-2013. Samples were collected every week with help of local fishermen by using fishing nets and bamboo traps. In one year study period, 53 species of ornamental fishes were recorded in Lower Manair Dam. The recorded fishes belong to 8 orders, out of these orders cypriniformes was dominant with 23 species contributes 43.40% in 2 families followed by Perciformes 11 species (20.76%) 6 families, Siluriformes 9 species (16.98%) in 5 families, Channiformes 4 species (7.85%) in 1 family, Beloniformes 2 species (3.77%) 2 families, Angulliformes 2 species (3.77%) 1 family, Osteoglossiformes one species and Mogiliformes one species (1.87%) in each family. Of these, 13 species were abundant, 13 species were common, 19 species were moderate and seven species were rare. Family cyprinidae was dominant with 10 genera and genus Puntius was dominant with 5 species followed by other species, IUCN (2013.2) and CAMP (1998) conservation status of each fish was listed.
