Abstract: This study explores the applicability of the resistivity method in estimatinggeotechnical index properties in parts of Bayelsa State. Representative soil samples were obtained from twelve boreholes, while geoelectrical soundings were conducted with array centres positionedat the location of each borehole in order to generate data for the analysis. The recovered soil samples were subjected to laboratory testing to determinetheir geotechnical properties. Relationship between the engineering properties and the processed geoelectric parameters was examined by plotting resistivity values against the moisture content and plasticity index of each soil layer and sample across the study area. From the results, a non-linear, inverse relationship was observed between soil moisture content and electrical resistivity values which implies that higher water content enhances higher electrical conductivity.......

Abstract: The TuronianEze-Aku Formation of the Middle Cretaceous which outcrops at the eastern flank of the Abakaliki Anticlinorium, Southern Benue Trough Nigeria represents a potential reservoir rock for hydrocarbons. Representative outcrop samples of the sandstone unit of the Eze-Aku Formation were collected and analyzed in order to determine its reservoir characteristics. In order to achieve this aim, a comprehensive description of the sedimentological, geotechnical and petrographical characteristics of the sandstone unit of the TuronianEze-Aku Formation was carried out. Petrographic analysis shows quartz grains are the most abundant detrital components in the samples (both polycrystalline and monocrystalline), followed by feldspars. Quartz constitutes about 92-93% and feldspar.....

Abstract: Geophysical method is a major tool in groundwater exploration. Integrated geophysical investigations were carried out within the premises of the OlabisiOnabanjo University hostel to delineate the aquifer characteristics of the area. For this study, Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) configuration was used to unravel the subsurface litho-stratigraphic information of the area. The overburden thickness vis-a-vis the direction of fractured and weathered rock formations was obtained through the acquisition of magnetic data. Five geophysical traverses were established with sevenVES points within the study area. The apparent resistivity data acquired from the Electrical Resistivitymethod was processed, inverted, and iterated using "WinResist". The ground magnetic data were processed using SignProc and Euler deconvolution for the estimation of the depth to bedrock and direction of the fractured lineament.....
