| Title | : | Resistivity Imaging of Shallow Sediments within University of Maiduguri Campus, Northeast Nigeria |
| Country | : | Nigeria |

Abstract: Electrical resistivity imaging within University of Maiduguri campus shows varying resistivity values and thicknesses for shallow sediments from one profile line to another. Sequence stratigraphy of the sediments indicates they were deposited at different times and varying conditions. Structure of the medium of deposition conditioned the lithological structures of the sediments. Basin or bowl-shapes of some resistivity structures are characteristics of some gravelly and clayey sediments. In most cases where such structures are encountered, gravels seem to host sands; while clays are located at the central parts. This situation may suggest that the sediments were deposited at the same time, where heavier ones settled to the bottom of the stratigraphy. Sometimes clayey sediments host sandy sediments; a situation that may be associated with different times of deposition.

| Title | : | New Study on Reservoir Characteristics of the Macroscopic Heterogeneity-Example of BZ25-1S |

Abstract: The heterogeneity of the reservoir refers to the basic properties of the reservoir (lithology, physical property, electric property and oiliness) in three dimensional space on the distribution of heterogeneity. Based on statistics of core and well log data, paramenters of variation coefficient and differential are calculated to carry out the study on heterogeneity of layer, interlayer and areal heterogeneity of Lower Member of Minghuazhen Formation in BZ25-1S area. The sand sets of BZ25-1S reservoir are mainly of distributary channel sand bodiesin delta plain, and the layer heterogeneity is medium. There are many barriers developed, and layer heterogeneity is relatively strong. In the plane,the reservoir heterogeneity in the distributary channel is strong, and it is weak in the overbank sand. It is considered that Lower Member of Minghuazhen Formation in BZ25-1S area is of strong heterogeneity.

| Title | : | CVS vs. t2-x2 velocity analysis |
| Country | : | India |
| Authors | : | Anil Kumar Semwal || Naresh Agarwal |
Abstract: Velocity analysis is one of the prime aspects of seismic data processing. Velocity analysis is an iterative process and one keeps on improving subsurface velocity field at different stages of processing. These analyses require an initial velocity field, but in a virgin area, it is required, to estimate this, from the seismic data itself by employing CVS (Constant Velocity Stack) or t2-x2 methods. In the present context, we demonstrate using field data, that t2-x2 method based velocities are more reliable than CVS based velocities for the subsequent velocity analysis purposes.
